Own Backyard
Sometimes I think to myself that there is nothing to do is this city. Then I go out and discover that is just not true.
Yesterday, I was sitting around doing nothing, so I decided to go for a bike ride. I had never checked out the Galloping Goose before and thought it was time I did. I didn't really have any idea how far along the trail I would go. I just packed a lunch, through a book and a beach towel in my backpack and went.
After about 45 minutes of riding I came out at the Juan de Fuca Rec Centre where they were holding what I think was the Junior National BMX races (or something like that), so I spent about 10 minutes watching them. That was pretty cool and something I would never have found if I were in a car. From there I decided to head down to Esquimalt Lagoon where I ate my lunch and read my book for an hour on the beach. I then headed back home the same way I came.
This whole adventure took a little over three hours and it was one of the best days I have had this summer. I know it's a cliché, but it sure is amazing what you can find in your own backyard.
